awakening moves at the
pace of friendship.

The Awakening Project is a growing family that bands together in deep friendship to travail in prayer, become like Jesus, and empower the next generation to engage the world and prepare the Church for awakening.

what is awakening project?

purpose

We exist to catalyze young leaders toward awakening in their generation—

where people are healed and made whole,

where new life in Jesus spreads,

where the Church wakes up, and

where cities and systems are transformed.

what we do

We help young leaders gain the vision, friendships, and tools they need to lead their generation toward awakening.

  • CONFERENCES: We host immersive gatherings where emerging leaders experience awakening culture—and get equipped for awakening leadership at in their local communities. Every element is designed to help you dream about what awakening could look like where you live and learn how to lead toward it. Through practical workshops, powerful worship, and teaching, you’ll grow in your gifts, make friends, have fun, and encounter God.

  • COMMUNITIES: We believe awakening moves at the pace of friendship. To fuel and sustain our hopes for awakening, we gather young adults into intentional communities:

    • BANDS: Discipleship bands are micro-communities of 3–5 peers that meet regularly for honest reflection, confession, encouragement, and prayer.

    • COHORTS: Cohorts offer city-to-city connections between 12-15 emerging leaders who support one another in developing awakening leadership through peer mentoring, friendship, vocational discernment, and prayer.

  • COACHING: We’re here to support you and your local work. Whether you're just getting started with leading or navigating a complex ministry decision, we’re available to talk, pray, and discern with you. We are available to all ages for coaching conversations or group workshops. Let us know how we can serve you.

  • CONTENT: We have developed a theology of awakening leadership as our core content. Occasional online workshops or prayer opportunities will be offered. Sign up for updates and follow us on Instagram

Core Content

Prayer & Presence

Central to our approach is prayer, encompassing prayer meetings, ministry, and the practice of travail. Inspired by Pentecost in Acts 2, we explore the significance of hosting meetings with God and offer guidance on leading prayer sets. We advocate for lingering in God's presence, awaiting His revelation. With eyes for the small, we emphasize presence-centered micro gatherings, akin to the Emmaus journey, where participants recognize Jesus' manifest presence among them.

Church & Mission

Life-long engagement with the local church is emphasized. We provide insights into church planting, church ecclesiology, and catalyzing communities. We address mission and evangelism, vocational calling, and workplace engagement. Awakening Project has an emphasis on the role of justice in awakening. We seek to equip around cultural engagement.

Relational Life

Understanding that awakening moves at the pace of friendship, we cherish the power of relationship as a formative tool. Practices such as banding, closing triangles, and fostering multi-generational connections are emphasized. We encourage authenticity and wise vulnerability, offering guidance on navigating shame and confession. Additionally, we delve into the significance of spiritual parenting and promote cross-pollination with other ministries.

Word of God + Spirit of God

We affirm and value both the Word of God and the Spirit of God. We understand scripture as the authoritative Word of God, and provide resources on how to effectively study the Bible. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is also emphasized, with a balanced approach that avoids the extremes of fear or excess. We provide guidance on how to be filled with the Holy Spirit and explore spiritual gifting. Our content includes exploration of healing and deliverance ministries.

Leadership

Embracing the priesthood of all believers, we cultivate an environment where individuals approach God without fear of being unexceptional. We value insights from student and young adult leaders, emphasizing leadership qualities of humility, collaboration, consecration, and holiness. Shared leadership practices like collaborative discernment and whiteboarding are promoted.
